Milky Way Sampler
Designed by Rebecca Ringquist a US based Embroiderer, the Milky Way Sampler is perfect for showing off the stiches you have learnt. Stars wind their way through a dense field of running stitches and potential rainbows. Rebecca used primarily back stitch, running stitch, and french knots. You can use your own handful of favorite stitches to make this fun project your own. A combination of size 8 perle cotton and embroidery floss has been used. Our example is stitched in a green to purple palette- what colors will you chose for yours?
What's Included?
The sampler arrives preprinted on cotton quilting fabric, ready to stitch and includes basic instructions. You provide your own threads, needles, and hoop.
What size is it?
The Milky Way Sampler measures approximately 8" x 8"
Where can I find more embroidery help?
I'm so glad you asked! Check out Rebecca’s online workshop on Creativebug. Here's a link:

Where can I see other examples of the finished sampler?
Instagram! Check out the hashtag #dropclothsamplers for tons of beautiful examples of all our designs, stitched by people like you. I hope you'll add yours to the mix!
How should I back my sampler?
For best results, I recommend backing this fabric with a second piece of fabric (cotton or linen) before placing your fabric in the hoop. You'll get the flattest, most even stitches this way. Check out my how to for this step on creativebug or IGTV (@dropcloth)
What size hoops should I use? I like a size 6- but use whatever you hoop you have on hand.
